The Home Shopping Network guy...lol. Anyone ever heard any of his stuff? My friend said he saw him on HSN and said he was awesome (this over a year ago, as my OLness was developing into Fanmenco-level craze). He sent me his song "Flamenco Wind" which I'm loving--has the same quality of pure joy and release that I find similarly in Isla del Sol. Having trouble finding any of his other stuff, though, and my guitar teacher (who met him before he was big, when he was playing a hotel in Arizona) seems to think he's a hack Anyone else know much about him?

Hello Adam, Esteban is a great player. I've heard quite a bit of his music. My critique to Esteban would be to focus more on his guitar solos and less on having other players performing long solos. but that's me. maybe people like long trumpet solos. Other than this, there's no doubt, he is a very versatile and amazing player. Here's his story: www.doney.net/aroundaz/celebrity/esteban.htmtake care bro, Bob

About a year ago I was shopping for a second guitar - something inexpensive to have for travel. My sister in law is an HSN junky so she told me about this Esteban guy on HSN selling this guitar that was supposed to be really good and inexpensive. I finally found his HSN spot and watched it.
I was still skeptical about the guitar so I started going to various websites where I could find reviews on classical guitars. Turns out there were a lot of people who had bought his guitar based on his infomercials and the reviews of it were quite varied - everything from "it's amazing how good it plays" to "it's an unplayable piece of Adam Is So Sexy!" My conclusion was that it must be cheaply manufactured and likely they have quality control issues - i.e. maybe some are OK but just as likely I wouldn't be too happy with it. Finally I decided I wasn't really comfortable buying a guitar mail order anyway.
As for Esteban the artist... I haven't really given him a listen. His infomercial illuded to the fact that he had studied with Segovia at one time and that he had an almost career ending accident too. I think the dark sunglasses are to hide his blindness in one eye. I don't see how he can play with such long fingernails but he certainly seemed quite nimble the few short bits he played on the TV spot. His whole style (costume) is a bit too much (flashy) for me - but I guess I should reserve judgement until I've listened to him more.

I've downloaded two of his albums for a "test spin"--Flamenco y Rosas and Enter the Heart. I like the latter, better, seems more original to me and better quality. That's the album, btw, with "Flamenco Wind" on it.

yea I'm not sure why he goes with the black cape and hat. maybe it gives him some mysterious, straight out of the flamenco woods of spain, vibe. Kind of like a Zorro of spanish guitar. you'd be suprised how gimicks like this sell CDs.
I do notice a big inconsistency with the quality of his CDs. some sound like they were recorded in a bathtub and others sound great. but underneath all of this, he can play.
