Really? You know his solo stuff, too? Very cool......what have you heard so far? He's got about 8 albums and each one is vastly unique, we'll get you into something, Brad

Ive heard stuff basically ranging between Smile from the Streets You Hold all the way to Will to Death. I doubt I can be converted to a Frusciante fan, ive listened to lots of his stuff, and it doesnt do anything for me

I actually think that the RHCP were a better band when Dave Navarro was their guitar player. Dave is quite a shredder on the guitar. But that's just my opinion. I am actually a huge RHCP fan.

Haven't been up here in ages! So I thought I'd start with the most recent topic.
Grew up on classic rock (70's, first concert was KISS), soul, R&B, 60's rock (big Beatles fan), etc. Currently into everything, including *uhh hmmn* rap, hip-hop, electronica, etc.
I think rap gets a bad name due to the "Top 40" rap artists -- but to me, it's musical style is most unique and is an artform in itself. Very non-traditional, but definitely an intriguing style of music. If you try some music in the likes of Speech, Digable Planets, De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest -- you'll find these very different from the Nelly, P Diddy, etc, crap you find in Top 40. From a musicians standpoint (well, I think I am anyways lol), Rap has some great sounds and rhythmns, and uses the voice as percussion, not a melodic sound.
Anyhooooo, some bands to look out for? In particular for me, Ozomatli -- a latin/world/multi-cultural band from Los Angeles that gotz some wicked mixes of rock, rap, latin, arabic, world, etc. Go to Ozomatli.com and you can listen to the new release online. The first track "Believe" tells you all about their sound.
Also been into a new gal called Jem -- from Wales, currently signed to Dave Matthews record label ATO. Nice mix of rock, trip-hop, beats, pop hooks. Very down to earth, soulful, while modern at the same time.
And yes Matt -- Morphine rocks! A friend introduced me some 10 years back. I asked "What instruments are these?" and he told me, and I nearly fell out! Awesome to hear their recognition.
Great to hear the posts!

And did I hear Uncle Tito mention Rush? Had a chance to see them again this year... and they STILL ROCK! They played the usual playlist, but played for 4 hours! There was intermission, but after the first set, they did a whole other set -- like two concerts in one.
I don't get it, doesn't one get tired playing that long? I remember the days in San Antonio playing for two bands, who were friends, so I played bass for two sets a night... and my hands nearly fell off.
Rush rocked so hard, they made Alcatraz look like a grain of sand... *lol*

I absolutely love Ozomatli!!! I have all of their releases. I'm not too fond of "Embrace the Chaos", but their last release, "Signs" is a true jem. I love the way they use the charango in some of their songs, and the harmonies, my goodnes... great band.
