Hello everyone..I went with Bob2..I know it's not very original but neither is Mehdi. Apparently, there is already a member named Bob.
Victor, I don't know CG but the one time I saw him live with Ron he put on a great show..sometimes even stealing the show away from the other players.
Boris, I checked out that link to Ottmar's comments on Ron. It's interesting.
Have you guys heard of Marc Antoine? He's a modern flamenco guitarist. He has a song on the radio right now called "Mediterraneo", a year after Ron released his CD titled "Mediterranea". Looks like Ron Benise is the one getting copied now.
Anyways, back to Mehdi. Soothing music.com says he's from Los Angeles, yet I can't find anything on this guy. He says he plays live, yet I can't find any dates on any website. what's the deal?
He uses spam to market his music? I wonder how affective that is??

One more thing..I went back and read the comments about Ron from your Ottmar link..man some of those people are brutal. they don't even know Ron or what he is about. one lady compares Ron to Esteban. Esteban, like Ron, is actually a great guitar player. You have to look past the black cape, sunglasses and goofy infomercials.

Hey Bob, glad you officially joined us!
I'm sure CG is a great percussionist! At least he's not with Mehdi anymore. Ah, what do I know - I'm sure most musicians are happy just to have some steady work once in a while. Sounds like they have a good thing going with the Benise show!
I'll have to check out Marc Antione - at least to see what he's all about. I wonder if Benise has taken notice of the Marc Antione thing?
Just to get you up to speed on the Mehdi thing... It started like the very day that "La Semana" appeared on Amazon. Immediately there was a spam review under "La Semana" trying to get people to check out Mehdi. The review was titled "Thanks for the introduction to Mehdi". Well, understandably OL wasn't happy - I mean not only was it total spam but on the first day his album was available! So a bunch of people jumped on it, did some poking around and found out there were thousands of reviews titled "Thanks for the introduction to Mehdi" - just try a Google search of that exact phrase and see! Apparently Mehdi (or whoever does his promoting) put this review, same text every time, on a ton of albums for sale at Amazon - didn't matter if they were "new age" or not!
So, it makes me suspicious of the reviews for Mehdi's albums. I mean, are there actually Mehdi fans or is the whole thing a fabrication?! Mehdi obviously has a bunch of albums out and I've found an occasional mention on websites featuring "new age" music - but otherwise the actual artist is a total no-show! And, it's interesting too considering the discussions going on about is the modern music scene really about art or marketing or what?!
Thanks Boris for finding the Benise comment from Ottmar! I think you're more the inspector than me - but I'll keep trying! Anyway, I hope that puts the whole Benise thing to rest.

Hey Adam, I just noticed I'm no longer a "Junior Member" - did I finally get promoted to "Member"?? Woo-hoo!! ;D But what's with the stars next to people's names? I'm star-less - I feel deprived. Update: Nope, I'm still "Junior Member" - not sure what I was looking at. That's fine, maybe I'll get promoted some day.

Is it just me, or would it be REALLY funny to put the "Thanks for the introduction to Mehdi!" comment on, say, a Slipknot review?

Higlights Of Silent Dreams Vol. 2 = featuring OL and Yanni on one album ;D Amazon.de knows Mehdi but as well DJ Mehdi and some other guys. Still have to figure out who is who. But this Mehdi I just saw has a Christmas album out, maybe we should send it to OL for inspiration, hahaha....... Don't take me serious tonight, I'm about disappearing in bed. Snorrrrrrr....... Oh and no Benise but this I have mentioned before, I think. And it fits with what Bob told us a couple of weeks ago. Never heard of Esteban but if you keep up informing us about other guitar players every now and then besides (and including) your true devotion for Benise, it looks like a worthy contribution, Bob!! [This was meant serious. ]

Is it just me, or would it be REALLY funny to put the "Thanks for the introduction to Mehdi!" comment on, say, a Slipknot review? I agree. Or put it on a Britney Spears review.... but there I guess it would disappear among the thousand of enthousiastic comments.........

Don't tempt me to be mischievous Adam! I was toying with something like that one day - but then thought better. I can't condone spam-wars (in good conscience - which still leave guilty conscience as a possibility ;D). Anyway, I just wish there was a way to get Amazon to clean up their database. They did get rid of the spam review on “La Semana”, but there’s still thousands out there. I can’t imagine it would be that difficult to query their database and delete entries with the same title. Oh well.

Victor--That is NOT spam wars! Spam wars would be something along the lines of putting "Thanks for the introduction to Ottmar Liebert!" in a review for Instrumental Dream - Volume One by Mehdi...which actually isn't a very bad idea....

Victor, I don't know if Ron knows about the Marc Antoine name coincidence. But I do know Ron was influenced by Marc. In fact, Marc is why Ron switched from Rock/Electric guitar playing to the Spanish style.
this Mehdi guy is interesting. you guys are right about his amazon review marketing techniques. I would be curious to see if this technique really sells his CDs or not.
typically the best way for non-major label artists to sell CDs is through playing lots of live shows. apparently, mehdi used to play live if CG used to play with him, yet I can't find any history on any past live shows performed by mehdi. why would someone trying to sell their CDs be so inconspicuous as to their identity?
