I don't know if it's right for me to ask this on OL's forum (although I'm sure I could invoke some special admin privilege...lol), but I just recorded my first song, called "Duende" (sorta cliché, sorry, but it's a good name!!), with my friend Seth, me on the flamenco guitar and him on a steel string acoustic, both of us switching off between rhythym + lead. Should I post it here, or would anyone perhaps like me to send them the link?
EDIT: This thread is now for ANY member of the Fanmencos forum to post their own original music, and spread the word.

Ahhhh, I feel sorta embarassed posting it on a forum where everyone is used to OL's music and all, but for a song created + rehearsed/improvised in only about a half hour, I don't think it's TOO bad...lol...it's easy to tell it was recorded with a computer microphone, too, but as OL says in the notes for Spring Rain, the music takes precedent over the recording quality homepage.mac.com/austinsarner/Duende.mp3The first and only track on Adam Solomon + Seth Halpern's collaboration album, "Duende", a collision of rock and flamenco guitars, recorded in one night of duende--the intense emotion that inspires flamenco music. Though Adam + Seth will be the first to admit there are mistakes (from the little of it that was not made on the spot), they try to integrate the mistakes into the beauty of the music. Hopefully you will feel the same way. Above is the comment from the file itself...lol...it's pretty cool, my friend Seth + I were hanging out tonight, because he's moving to Florida next week, and we ended up writing this song, it was pretty Adam Is So Sexy cool...we both switch off between rhythym and solo, with Seth writing the rhythym part (and me translating it to my flamenco guitar), and each of us writing our solos.

Just don't end up like Benise who named nearly everything after song + album titles he found at OL's. That would certainly be offending. And why not developing your own kind of creativity what the naming is concerned? Oh and yes, maybe your very first song should be dedicated to your one and only source of inspiration, the admired Flamenco sorcerer OL...

Well, Boris, I was planning on titling my first album "The Hours Between Night + Day" and hoping nobody noticed... Nah, I'll never do a Benise, Seth really liked the name Duende and I sort of just didn't really care at the time...lol...I wanted to record

Adam -- This is where it all starts. You start creating with what you've got on hand. You try not to get hung up on the outcome, and you just go for it! Your next "project" will rely on the mistakes and successes of the one before. It takes guts to put something out there! Congratulations!

What was I talking about?! Just go ahead, Adam!
One question came to my mind: how did OL's playing sound at the age of 15? He was still living in Köln / Cologne then + he has not seized to take lessons in both classical + Flamenco guitar for a long time...
Strange to finally LISTEN to somebody whom you only have READ so far... how did you record it?
Maybe calling the album "Very Nouveau Flamenco" and hoping that nobody would notice the reference??

Adam, that reference to the album title made me laugh out loud.

Carolynn + Matt--Thanks! Boris--I think that's actually a fantastic first album title I'd also like to hear OL's older stuff--the best we have is the 1982 Fragment, no? Also, the song was recorded on a Logitech WebCam Microphone, on Adam Solomon's computer. As Seth's acoustic/electric guitar could not feed directly into Adam's computer due to insufficient cord length, the mic took in both guitars at once. Top conditions, yes, but oh well. Also, I'm renaming this thread "Fanmencos playing flamenco", for all you fanmencos to post your music, too!

The 1982 fragment. I was always wondering what exactly that is. Maybe I should listen more carefully. but if it's really a fragment from 1982, OL was 23 by then.

Some musicians play other people's music and some musicians create. Keep on creating man - that's good stuff! How long have you been playing? I'm a relatively new guitarist (about 1.5 years taking lessons).
